Description

A charming vintage bisque porcelain figurine in the classic country pastoral tradition, depicting a young girl seated on a grassy mound beside a rustic knotted tree trunk bearing red cherries or berries. She wears a vivid yellow dress with a white underskirt and blue collar, cuffs and hair bow, and bright red shoes with dark soles. Her expression is cheerful and rosy-cheeked, with carefully painted blue eyes, red lips and dark brown hair swept up in pigtails. Beside her sits a neat white goose with a small dark eye, rendered with feather texture detail. The scene is completed by soft pink and white flowers at the base of the tree, all set on an oval grassy green mound base.

The piece is characteristic of the popular Hummel-inspired pastoral giftware style widely produced across East Asia — primarily Taiwan and Korea — throughout the 1970s and 1980s, distributed by brands such as HOMCO (Home Interiors), Lefton, and numerous unbranded lines for the European and North American gift market.
