The Siemens S566 refers to a legacy integrated circuit, specifically the S566A or S566B "Sensordimmer". Developed using PMOS-Depletion technology, this chip was designed for building digital electronic brightness regulators (dimmers) controlled by touch sensors rather than mechanical switches.
Key Features of the S566 Integrated Circuit
Sensor Operation: Functions via a single touch key (sensor) with no moving mechanical parts.
Touch Timing: It distinguishes commands based on touch duration; short touches (60–400 ms) toggle the light on or off, while longer touches (over 400 ms) continuously vary the brightness.
Memory Function: The device can maintain the set brightness level even during short power interruptions of up to one second.
Full Cycle: A complete brightness adjustment cycle takes approximately 7 seconds.
